Minister’s Letter 25/4/2021

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Rev 2:11

Dear Friends,
I hope you have had a good week and have been able to spend some time with those you love and have missed over recent months.
This week has been a tumultuous one in the footballing world. A new plan for a European Super League was initiated, launched and then comprehensively rejected by the footballing community. Those who had the idea failed to listen to those who ultimately had the power to say yes or no to the scheme.
The Thursday home group I’m part of are currently looking at the book of Revelation and one of the repeated refrains is ‘Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’ As a church we are moving into a new phase in our lives and as a community of Christians I believe our call is the same as the one spoken into the early church, to listen to the Spirit and walk in God’s ways. Church may look different when we regather but we are still the people of God on a mission to the world. Listening to what God says is vital if we want to be the people he intends us to be. We all form part of that listening process. Please speak to the elders if you feel God has been speaking to you about what we as his church should be doing in the future.
There are three things to draw your attention to this week.
Firstly please do consider if you can contribute to the youth fund so we can continue to grow the youth work here at Plume. Speak to Paul Hampshire if you need details as to how to financially support the work.
Sylvia Brown sends her love and prayers to the fellowship after the recent death of Graham. The funeral date has been set as 17th May and we shall be streaming the service from Plume. More details will follow.
Finally, on Tuesday evening at 6.30pm there is a prayer meeting on Zoom for Daniel and the work in Kenya. Daniel will be sharing the current situation. Please do come along and hear what is going on and what you can pray for. Zoom details are below.
