Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Deut 6:4,5
Dear Friends,
I trust you have had a good Easter and have managed to celebrate the risen Christ in your homes and in your hearts.
This week we have to bring some sad news to the fellowship by letting you know of the death of Graham Brown.
Graham was an elder and the Church Secretary here at Plume Avenue until recently. He served with vigour, compassion and love. Many of you will remember his warm smile his deep faith and his encouraging words. Personally he was a great support to myself and the family when we ar-rived here in Colchester and I know many of us will miss him greatly. Please do pray for Sylvia and the family as they come to terms with his passing. We give thanks to God that Jesus has defeated death and for Graham suffering and pain are now a thing of the past.
As we continue with church life I am pleased to say as he explores the possibility of ordination Joe Robbins will be leading our service this Sunday. Joe will be starting a new series as we look at what the Lordship of God means. The early church declared Jesus as Lord and trusted in him but what does that mean for us today? Do tune in over the coming weeks as we explore this theme together.
Can I remind you about the prayer meetings that we hold twice each week on Saturday and Wednesday at 9.30am. You are invited and welcome to both. Now is an important time in the life of Plume Avenue Church and it would be good to see a healthy turnout at the prayer gatherings as we seek the way forward for the church.
On Monday night the elders meet. Can I remind you to keep the elders in your prayers. There is a lot for them to consider at the moment not least the reopening of the church for worship in the coming months.
Finally, can I remind you of the church subscription to Right Now Media. RNM is a rich resource of teaching, worship and learning for all ages. It is a library of talks and films that is free to anyone who is part of Plume Avenue Church. I know many of you have used it for your quiet times and to help you grow in faith during the pandemic. If you don’t yet have an account please drop an email to admin@plumeavenuechurch.org.uk and you will be set up with one.
May you know the presence of God this week.
With much love,
Geoff Felton.
