Liz’s Letter 20/03/2022

Do not be anxious about anything but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God – Philippians 4: 6

Hi All,

Hope you have had a good week. I’ve left the same bible verse as last week as the head of this letter just to remind us that although there is so much heartache around the world at the moment we do have a lot to give thanks for. I am sure that our hearts were lifted this week to see Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe be reunited with her family having been released.

We are delighted to welcome Rev Aubrey Cardy back to Plume Avenue this Sunday morning to take our service. Aubrey was a regular visitor to our church to lead services over years gone by and we look forward to hearing what God has laid on his heart for us here to hear.

Thank you to everyone who gave to the DEC appeal for Ukraine – £663 including Gift Aid was sent to the appeal. Just a reminder that we are now also collecting items for refugees from Ukraine. These will be taken to St John’s Church after our service this Sunday. The items they are asking for are:

  •  Good quality clean clothes for all ages (including footwear)
  •  Toiletries : Deodorant, bars of soap, flannels, toothpaste, disposable nappies, sanitary products and towels (No razors or liquids)
  • Bedding: flat sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, blankets (No pillows or duvets)

Please only donate the items requested.
Please place your donations in plastic bags or bin liners.
Please do bring any donations you have to church either Saturday morning between 10 and 11am or on Sunday morning.

The Elders are meeting with David Sebley on Monday evening – please do pray for this meeting.

There is now a signup sheet in the foyer for the Maundy Thursday meal, when we will meet together as a family from 6.30pm to share in a simple meal. After the meal we will share Communion together and then go outside to sing, following the example of the disciples when they went out to the Mount of Olives. If you can help with preparing this meal, serving, laying out of tables or clearing away please do speak to Andrea or me.

Also, just a further reminder that if we are to start to serve refreshments on a Sunday we need a team of people to do this. Please do let Andrea or me know if you could help with this.
Our Bible Study homegroup meets on Zoom on Tuesday evening and there will be the usual prayer meetings on Zoom on Wednesday and Saturday morning at 9.30 am.
Hope you have a really blessed weekend.
    Love
