Liz’s Letter 22/05/2022
by Liz Bird
May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us – so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. Psalm67
Dear All
This Sunday, 22nd May we welcome Rev David Sebley to lead our service. Hope you will be able to join us.
Our Wednesday and Saturday morning prayer meetings will be on Zoom at 9.30 am.
There are a number of things to share with you in this letter so happy reading!
Hope you have a good weekend and week.
With love and blessings.
Thy Kingdom Come
This starts on 26th May. Each household should have an envelope of resources to use – these are available on the table in the foyer. In the packs you will find a prayer journal and a Novena with daily reflections based on 1 Peter. We are encouraged to pray for 5 people to come to know Christ over the period from Ascension to Pentecost. I do hope that these resources will be a real blessing to you over the period 26th May – 5th June. If you have any questions do speak to me.
Christian Aid Lunch
Thanks to all who came, helped or supported at the Christian Aid simple lunch. So far £220 + gift aid was raised for this worthy cause.
Bless you all
Andrea
Annual General Meeting and Eldership
Our Annual General Meeting will be held at Church on Monday 20th June at 7.30 pm. At this meeting we will be looking to potentially elect new elders to join the leadership team. If you feel there is someone you would like to suggest for eldership, please speak to Liz or one of the current elders, please do not speak to the person themselves about this. It would be good to increase the number on the leadership team. Elders don’t have to be elected just at the AGM, they can be elected at any church meeting during the year. For guidance on who is called to eldership, do read Titus 1:5-9
Colchester Foodbank
We won’t be open for Foodbank donations on Saturday 28th May but please do bring these to church on the Sunday.
Men’s Chat and Chill
The men are due to meet next on Monday 30th May at 13:30 to 16:00 for our Chat and Chill and this time possibly carpet bowls.
Dolphin School Kenya
This is just a final reminder that we are looking to support the building of the new classrooms for the Dolphin School in Kenya. Please do pray about this and if you are able to give please make a bank transfer to the church bank account and mark up the donation reference as “Dolphin and your surname and initials” eg “Dolphin – Bird E”. For those who are able to Gift Aid contributions, we will be able to claim the Gift Aid on your contributions. The church bank account details are:
Bank: CAF Bank Ltd Account name: Plume Ave URC Sort code: 40-52-40
Account no: 00006934 Reference: Dolphin and your surname and initials
If you would prefer to pay by cheque please make cheques payable to Plume Avenue URC.
Eastern Synod Big Day Out
On Saturday 16th July, the Eastern Synod are holding a Big Day Out at Trinity Park, Ipswich. Some of our young people are involved in leading the worship on the day. A booking form is available with further details (attached to this letter). It would be really good if a number of folk could support this day and our young people. For more details contact Liz or Joe.
