Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
Dear All
I do hope you are doing ok.
There is quite a bit to share this week so here goes.
Sunday
We will be looking at Week 2 of the Paraclesis series this week. Do bring your book to church so that you can complete the relevant pages.
Church Meeting
There is a church meeting on Monday 26th September at 7.30pm in church. Everyone is welcome.
Harvest
Our Harvest thanksgiving service will be a family Café Church service on 25th September and our gifts this year will go to the Colchester Foodbank – a shopping list is on the reverse of this letter or if you would prefer to give a financial donation please place this in an envelope marked “Foodbank” in the tithe box, pay through the bank into the church account marking the donation “Foodbank” or use the Sum-up machine for contactless payment.
Please do sign up this Sunday (18th September) for the lunch which will be served after the harvest service. This will be a Ploughman’s style lunch followed by fruit crumble/pie with ice cream/custard. Everyone is invited to join us for this meal. We will need some help to prepare the meal – please
contact Andrea if you can help with this. We will be asking for donations to cover the cost of the Ploughman’s lunch. We would also like to invite those who are able to make a fruit pie or crumble to bring and share. There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer.
Sunday evenings
As the nation is invited to come together to “mourn and reflect on the life and legacy” of the Queen at 8pm on Sunday evening, we will be doing this at the church. We invite everyone to come together at church and join us at 7.50 pm so that we can reflect, pray and be silent together at 8pm.
To enable this to happen, we will be moving the start time of the Jon Tyson session to 6.30pm.
Please do join us if you can.
Monday
Do think of someone you might be able to invite into your home to watch the Queen’s Funeral with. Andrea invites anyone who would like to join her at home, to get in touch by 6pm this evening (Saturday).
Condolence Book
We have a Condolence Book at church. We will be open on Saturday from 10 am – 12 noon if you would like to sign the book then. The book will be at church from this evening, so if you have a key and would like to pop in and submit an entry please do so. The book will also be available on Sunday.
To know Jesus and make Him known
Men’s Chat and Chill
The men’s chat and chill group is resuming on September 26th, 1.30 pm at the church. We will be talking over what has been happening over the summer break.
Lunch in aid of Macmillan and St Helena Hospice
Andrea writes “A date for your diary – Friday 30th September. You are welcome to a Ploughman’s lunch at our home 6 Prettygate Road at 12.30. There will also be a table top sale, all proceeds will be divided between National Macmillan and St Helena Hospice. It would be helpful to have some idea of numbers. Look forward to seeing you support these worthwhile causes.”
This is a home group meeting including the Tuesday evening Zoom group, details of which will be sent out early in the week. There will be the normal Zoom prayer meetings on Wednesday and Saturday this week, both at 9.30am.
With love and blessings.
