Dear All
Hope you have had a good week. By the time you read this we will have been through the Day of Prayer (Friday) and the fun (and competitiveness) of the Tear Fund quiz (thank you Stuart for organising this). This Sunday morning we have the joy to hear from Heidi Moat in our interview.
We know that prayer isn’t confined to one day, do be encouraged to spend time with the Lord each day listening to Him, sharing with Him – as the days get shorter we can sometimes feel we are alone for longer, let’s remember we are never alone. Our God is with us always, he hears the cries of our hearts before we even speak them out. I was drawn to Psalm 139 at the beginning of the day of prayer and would encourage you to read this wonderful Psalm to remind you of how precious and loved by God you are and how He is with you always.
There are a few thank you’ s to share today.
Thank you to all those who packed shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. The amazing number of 78 boxes were delivered to the drop of point on Monday, thank you to Pam Soames for organising this again for us and to Peter Ling our delivery driver!
Also thank you to everyone who have brought donations to church for the Foodbank. In October we delivered 133 kilos of food and toiletries to the Foodbank. Thank you! The church will remain open each Saturday from 10 to 11 am to receive donations.
There have also been good news stories shared of how folk have written to others, picked up the phone for a chat, sent off e-mails and messages, delivered flowers and gifts! Let’s continue to follow God’s leading as we are inspired to make contact with one another. And don’t forget to contact Geoff for a “Walk with the Rev”.
The Church building may be closed but God’s Church is alive!
This week the Elders will be meeting on Zoom to pray, the Tuesday and Thursday Bible Study Home Groups will meet, we will meet to pray on Facebook on Wednesday morning, the youth work and GB girls will meet on Zoom.
I leave you with a prayer I found which may be of comfort and encouragement to you:
Special prayer for those feeling anxious during current Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation
(Written by Dorothy Moore Brooks, Great Ormond Street Hospital Chaplain)
Dear God,
When I feel worried about what is happening in the world,
Blow my worries away like the wind blows leaves on an autumn day.
When I feel sad about how this virus is making so many people sick,
Wash my tears away like a waterfall washes over rocks and makes them smooth.
When I feel scared that I might get this horrible virus,
Calm my fears like the dawn makes a dark night fade away and I feel safe again.
Thank you that you are with me and everyone I am worried about.
Thank you that you love me and will always be with me.
Amen.
Hope you have a safe week, hold on to the promises of God’s word and be blessed and be a blessing.
With love and blessings
Liz xx
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8
