See I am doing a new thing Isaiah 43:1
Hi All
There is quite a bit to share with you this weekend so here goes.
This Sunday
We are delighted to welcome Rev Mark Ambrose back to Plume Avenue to take our service this week.
Prayer and Vision weekend
Next weekend is our prayer and vision weekend (18/19 September). Please be encouraged, whatever your age, to be praying about the future of God’s church here at Plume Avenue as we seek his will for both now and the future in 5 and 10 years’ time. As we gather over Saturday 18 September, we hope that everyone will feel able to drop in at some time and share what God has laid on their heart and to spend some time in prayer and conversation. The Saturday lunch menu has been distributed by e-mail and will be available in church on Sunday morning. Please return your orders by Tuesday evening so that we can place the order with the shop. Starting at 10am and on every hour, we will pause and say together the Lord ’s Prayer.
Please also join us on Sunday for a “bring your own picnic” after the service.
This really is a new season for us – whatever you feel God is laying on your heart to share please be encouraged to do so. It doesn’t matter how big or small you think it is or how way out and different it is – please share it so that we can pray further into it as a fellowship and discern the path going forward with the Lord.
Harvest
Our harvest thanksgiving service will be on Sunday 26th September. This will be an all-age service with folk from all the different generations in our church family being involved. Our new crèche area will be available for young babies and children and a couple of our youth group will be on hand to help with this on that day.
We would like to encourage the family to bring gifts for Beacon House – you will find a list of the items they need on the separate attachment.
Synod Day
We are hosting the Synod meeting on 9th October. We need lots of help with stewarding, refreshments, catering, furniture setting up and car park stewarding at the school. If you can commit part or all of the day to help with any of these aspects, please e-mail admin@plumeavenuechurch.org.uk and we will pass your name to the relevant elder. This really Is an opportunity to showcase our church.
Bible Study Home group
Our Tuesday evening bible study home group will meet on Zoom this week as we continue to look at Psalm 23. Everyone is very welcome to join us.
New Christian Bookshop
There is a new Christian bookshop which has opened in Maldon Road Chapel. The chapel incorporates the bookshop as a not for profit company. All profit is used for evangelism, feeding the homeless and after school teaching of children between ages 6 to 11 years.
Joan Davies, whom many of us know, is launching her book of memoirs in the bookshop on 18th September with half the profits going to Colchester Friends International.
Have a blessed weekend
Love
