`Come away with me. Let us go alone to a quiet place and rest for a while.’ Mark 6:31
Dear All,
Church Anniversary and Harvest Thanksgiving
Service: On Sunday 15th September our Sunday morning service will focus on giving thanks for 70 years of church history here at Plume Avenue and also our Harvest Thanksgiving.
Lunch: After the service there will be a lunch served. The lunch is a ploughman’s lunch and followed by fruit pie/crumble and custard/ice cream. There will be no charge for the lunch but if you would like to make a donation there will be a basket in church and the SumUp machine will be available. Please sign up in the foyer for the lunch and also indicate if you would be able to provide a fruit pie or crumble. If you are able to help with the lunch in any way please do speak to Andrea or Kate.
Harvest Gifts
Our Harvest Gifts this year will be for the Colchester Foodbank. A list of their needs on the reverse of this letter. If you would prefer to make a financial donation, please place your gift in an envelope marked up as “Harvest Foodbank” in the tithe and offerings box. Alternatively you can make a donation through the church bank account with a reference of “Harvest Foodbank” or using the SumUp machine which David will have.
New Wine talks
A number of people have asked if we will be screening the New Wine teaching sessions from Bishop Ruth. We hope to do this so in the foyer you will find a sign up list – we are offering various days and times and will choose the two most popular to show the videos over a period of five weeks starting in September. The videos are simply the teaching and do not include the worship and “magazine” items which were shown when the morning sessions were streamed live. Please sign up by 15th September.
Baptisms
We have had some folk asking about baptism so we are proposing to have a baptism service in October. If you have not been baptised and would like to find out more, please do speak to me.
Tuesday evening bible study homegroup
The homegroup on Zoom restarts on Tuesday evening. We are starting a course called “Discipleship Explored” which is based on Philippians. If you would like to join us please do. There is a book to accompany the series – please do speak to me if would like one.
Bible Journaling
Journaling resumes on Saturday 21st September, 10-12pm, everyone welcome – even if you haven’t been before or have never tried journaling. And you definitely don’t have to be artistic! Just bring a notebook and bible. It’s very informal and friendly, coffee and cake provided. Please speak to Jo for more details.
