Church Membership
Some folk have asked about church membership. If you are not yet a member and would like to explore this, please do speak to me or Dave or Marie.
Warm Welcome Hub
As the warmer weather approaches (hopefully!), we are have reviewed the current arrangements for the Warm Welcome Hub. As from 5th June we will “rebrand” our gathering to be “Coffee and Cake” and will meet from 9.30 am – 12 noon. We have some folk who are able to help with serving the coffee and provide cakes. If you would be able to help with this on an occasional or regular basis
please let me know as soon as you can so that we can put a rota together. We would like to continue to gather on a Monday morning as many have found this a wonderful opportunity to meet together and it has also provided support to Esther and the toddler group with serving coffee.
Thy Kingdom Come
We will have a prayer journal, prayer card and guide for each household available from next week. These start on 18th May and part of the idea is to choose 5 people to pray for to come to know Jesus over the period 18th – 28th May. You may like to start to think about who you would like to pray for.
Church Announcement
Last week before the service the following was shared with the church:
“Earlier this year, church meeting agreed that the elders and our interim moderator should explore the possibility of forming a partnership with Tiptree URC.
Since this was agreed, we have prayed, talked and listened about the way forward and both of the church elderships met together with the Synod Moderator, Rev Lythan Nevard, and our interim moderator, Rev David Sebley.
We now feel the time is right for the church meeting to decide if we are to go forward in forming a partnership with Tiptree URC. It is the recommendation of the eldership that we do proceed to form a partnership. If the church meeting agree to accept this recommendation, we will then be able to write a Partnership Profile to enable the vacancy to be declared.
The details of what the partnership would look like will be worked out over the process of writing the profile and the processes of appointing a minister. One thing we have agreed should the church meeting agree to proceed, is that with regard to preaching the minister will preach on a 50/50 basis over the Sundays. As to how the remaining sharing of the minister, which manse will be used and the financial implications – these will all be worked through as we go through the process.
We are therefore asking church meeting to consider the above and will call members to a meeting on 21 May 2023 to discuss and vote on this matter. Please continue to pray about this.”
The vote will be way of secret ballot and will require a 80% majority to go through. If you have any questions please do speak to me, Dave or Marie.
This week
There will be prayer meetings on Wednesday and Saturday mornings at 9.30am and the bible study homegroup on Tuesday evening. Zoom details for each will be e-mailed early in the week.
With love and blessings.
