Do not neglect your primary call
Greetings from the manse in the name of our Holy God, through Jesus Christ and the seal of the Holy Spirit that gives us the right to be called children of God and heirs and core-heirs of the Kingdom with Jesus Christ.
It is very easy to focus on our secondary callings of doing the work of ministry as prescribed in Ephesians 4:11ff and concentrating on doing our best to utilise the gifts given to us by God through the Holy Spirit. It is important to serve God but our primary calling is to be worshippers of God.
We are called to be “a holy people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” (1Peter 2:9). We are called to be full-time priests to declare the praises of God. We must seek to live a life of praising God and worshipping Him in “truth and in Spirit”. God seeks us to just be that; a people that praise and worship Him.
It is a privilege, we should not take for granted but to take it with reverence and fear. Worship requires our total submission to God with all our hearts and minds. We are called to offer our lives daily as living sacrifices to God for His glory not for our “feel good moments”.
We need to invest time in worshipping God daily and prepare our hearts, minds and spirits for our corporate worship whenever we meet together and “enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise…for the Lord is good and His love endures for ever; His faithfulness continues through all generations” (Psalm 100:4-5).
I encourage us to “put on the garment of praise and worship” continuously as we a called to worship with all creation, yes and serve “the Lamb who was slain” and raised from the dead and is seated at the right hand of the Father interceding for us all.
Ascribing greatness to our God is our primary calling!!! Amen
