About us

Here at Plume Avenue Church we are passionate about worshipping God and helping others discover the joy of new life through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Mission Statement is ‘to know Jesus and make Him known’ and it emphasises the centrality of Jesus in all we do. Whether you are young or old we believe a full life is to be found through Him. We’d love to welcome you to one of our Sunday services, one of the many home groups that meet regularly during the year or to any of our activities and groups. If you have questions and are searching we hope you will feel Plume is a place that can encourage you on your journey.

About Us

Plume Avenue Church is part of the United Reformed Church. We are also affiliated to the Evangelical Alliance and are a New Wine Network church. We work closely with other local churches in Prettygate and Colchester and have links with churches across the globe with close links to churches in Kenya. Our heart is for compassion and justice for all. We support and are involved with Colchester Foodbank, Beacon House, Colchester Soup Run, Christians Against Poverty, Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal and International Justice Mission.

Pastoral Care

Plume Avenue Church values each person. Pastoral care is provided by many, in different ways. It often occurs within friendships or existing small groups. We also have a Pastoral Care Team working alongside the Minister and the Elders. The team aims to offer emotional, spiritual and practical support to all in the good and difficult times. The team may pray with people or just offer a listening ear where needed. Meals are provided for families with new babies or for others needing help due to home situations or circumstances. We also bless people with the flowers which have been in Church on a Sunday.

FAMILY FOCUS

Plume Avenue Church welcome everyone from aged 0 or 90+. One of the great joys about Plume Avenue Church is the breadth of the ages in our family. On a Sunday morning we meet together for the early part of the service and there is then a Creche, Junior Church and Youth groups running whilst the service continues. Parents with young children are invited to either ruse the Creche or keep their children in church with them.

Activities

During the week we have homegroups, youth work, young adults group, Girls’ Brigade, Together group (for those who are retired and/or on their own) as well as other opportunities to meet together for prayer, socially or getting to know those in the local communities.

Holiday Club

We run a holiday club each summer for primary school aged children. This is a wonderful time for children to learn about Jesus through songs, drama, dance, crafts and small groups.

Social Activities

During the year we have lunches, quizzes and almost everything revolves around food! We also screen some of the large sporting activities such as the Olympics and big national events on our large screen.
