And this is what he promised us, eternal life. -1 John 2:25
Dear Friends,
This week marks the milestone of one year since we have met face to face. It’s a year since the Government announced the lockdown and the significant restrictions we face as we try to bring Covid under control.
In the last year we have heard of many deaths, prayed for many people, asked many questions and cried out in many ways. Many people feel they have had months of their lives taken from them, the lonely feel more isolated than ever and many people have clung to the hope of the scientific breakthrough that arrived in the last few months.
In home group on Thursday we had a significant conversation about death! Not something we often discuss in polite company but the last year has brought many of us closer to the reality of our own mortality. Death is something we shouldn’t hide from but something we should face up to and recognise, after all it accounts for 100% of the mortality rate in the world!
As we contemplate the year past let’s take seriously our time on earth and resolve to be more faithful to our God who holds eternity in his hands. Let us fix our minds on eternity and resolve to live in the light of God’s love and mercy.
This Sunday we shall be marking the one year since we last met in the service by reflecting on what we have been through and all that God has done. Please do try and connect with us.
With the easing of restrictions Walk with the Rev has started up again. If you would value a walk and a chat please do contact me to arrange a time together.
You should have received an email this week sharing our hope to reach families and friends with the Easter message of life eternal and death defeated. Please do contact Tony Smith for your copies of Why Easter and please be praying as to who you can give your copies to.
Don’t forget the monthly quiz on Friday 19th at 7.30pm. Great fun for all and all are welcome.
Finally, a big thank you to all those who helped distribute the flowers on Saturday. Your help was a huge blessing.
Have a good week.
Bless you,
Geoff Felton.
