We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
Psalm 33:20
Dear Church,
Yesterday (Thursday) I heard someone say ……. ‘Come back 2020 all is forgiven’!
This year has begun with a bang. We’ve been made aware at Plume Avenue church of the fragility of life. There are a number of our fellowship who have been ill with Covid recently and we found out our longest serving member Jean Bartram, passed away and went to be with her Lord on Tuesday afternoon.
Our prayers are with all those who are struggling at the moment for whatever reason and we ask that you would know God’s peace. The psalmist above declares that our trust is in God and if you read the rest of that Psalm you discover God’s faithfulness down the generations. Our hope is not in kings or nations but in the King of Kings.
As we step in to the New Year there are a number of items to share with you.
Sarah and I shall be running an online marriage course from the end of January to Easter. This is for anyone who wants to deepen their marriage and build strong foundations. We shall be using the HTB course that is produced by the same team that have produced Alpha. Please do contact me if you would like further details. They promise to be great evenings of fun, learning and support.
Our prayer meetings are changing slightly during January. We are moving to Zoom and they will be twice a week. The idea is that prayer will be for half an hour and that will be followed by tea and coffee for half an hour afterwards. We shall continue to meet on a Wednesday morning at 9.30am and the second one will be on Saturday morning at 9.30 am. Zoom details will follow.
Home groups begin again this week. Tuesday night group will meet at 7.30pm and Thursday lunchtime group will meet at 12.30pm. All are welcome do let me know if you’d like to join one and I can point you in the right direction.
Finally, can I please urge you to continue to look after one another? At the start of Covid we asked each person in the directory to pray for and talk to the person below them in the directory. This is a fresh call to continue with this important ministry. You may feel good and fine but the person below you in the directory may be feeling lonely and isolated or just in need of a conversation.
May God Bless you this week and may you know his presence in your life.
Geoff Felton.
