For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Dear All,
Easter weekend
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the church events and services from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday. It was a very special time and a number of folk have said how blessed they felt and what a good weekend it had been. Thank you!
Holiday Club
It was really encouraging to see so many attend an initial planning meeting for the above. We have decided to run a Holiday Club for primary school children (including those about to start school in September, to those who are currently in year 6) on four consecutive Monday mornings 28th July, 4th August, 11th August and 18th August. We will be using pre-planned material called “The Adventure Cruise”, cruising along 4 different C’s including change, choice, call and courage and how we can get “on board” with Jesus.
There are plenty of opportunities to serve including café, cakes, small groups, props, craft, games, tech sound/words. I would be really grateful if you could let me know, if you may be able to help in any way for one or more of the sessions. A DBS check for Plume Avenue Church will be required for those helping at Holiday Club, but can be arranged if necessary. Your continued prayers for the planning and the children and their families who will be attending would also be much appreciated. Thank you, Rachael.
Bible Journaling
The next journaling session will take place on Saturday 3rd May, 10am-12noon. Coffee and cake provided, plus friendly relaxed chat, whilst spending time in God’s Word, what could be better?! Do come along even if you’ve never been before, speak to Jo for more details. No experience/skills/equipment required, we’d love to see you!
Orchard Women’s Conference 18th October
A number of us are beginning to book for the above conference which this year takes place at HTB, London. The start time is 10.30 am and the finish time is 8pm. If you would like to go please do book on their website www.theorchardwomen.com/london A few of us went last year and it was a very special day full of worship, good teaching and spending time together. If you would like to know more about the day, please do speak to Jo or myself. When we know how many are coming we will look at how we travel.
Prayer before the morning services
We are aiming to gather together to pray at 9.45 am each Sunday with those who are leading and taking part in the service. Please do feel free to join everyone to pray in the music area.
Tuesday Bible Study Homegroup
We started a new series on Tuesday called “Be Still”. We will meet on Zoom on 6th and 20th May, 3rd and 17th June. This is the course description:
“The Be Still Series is a five-week course based on Brian Heasley’s book, ‘Be Still: a Simple Guide to Quiet Times’ that will equip you and your community to learn together how to develop a regular rhythm and deeper daily relationship with God.
In five interactive sessions, with accompanying discussion guides, Brian and friends from the global 24-7 Prayer movement explore some of the creative ways we can connect with God each day, unpacking how to practically develop and grow habits that can cultivate daily stillness in the midst of a busy and fast-paced world.”
If you would like to join us please do so – there is a workbook to accompany the series so if you would like to join please do ask me for one.
