“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.” Psalm 136:1
Dear All,
Prayer Morning
Just a reminder that there will be a prayer morning at church this Saturday 23rd November from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. This is open to everyone, of all ages, to drop in for all or part of the morning. The focus is to pray as we look ahead to Advent and Christmas. There will be prayer stations to help focus our prayers. Our thanks to Jo who has organized this for us.
Joe moving
Joe will be moving out of the manse to his new home on 10th December. If you are able to help him with this move please could you speak to him. Many thanks.
Decorating the church for Christmas
We will be gathering together on Friday 29th November from 7pm to decorate the church for Christmas. There will be refreshments available too. These evenings are normally great fun and are open to all ages (although children must bring an adult along with them!). Please do join us.
Christmas Nativity Trail
This takes place on Sunday 8th December in the afternoon. The trail is for the community as well as church families and is a joint venture with Prettygate Baptist Church. We need help with welcoming, refreshments and crafts for the afternoon. If you can help, please sign up in the foyer.
New Wine talks
We continue screening the Bishop Ruth Bushyager’s talks she gave on the mornings of New Wine this week. We won’t be screening the talk this Saturday morning though as it is the prayer morning but will screen the final video on Saturday 30th November. We will still screen the final video on Sunday evening this week at 6.45 pm.
Celebration Event 2024
The CYO celebration has sadly had to be postponed – they hope to hold this in the Spring.
Advent
An Advent Prayer guide is available today for every household. We also have a book this year for all the Junior Church children. Included in the Advent Prayer guide are a daily reading for you to reflect on and pray into, a list of names of the church family to pray for each day and, at the back, for those who like to be creative there are resources for a Jesse Tree. We know some couples like their own book so please do ask if you would like an additional copy.
Work on the Manse
We are incredibly grateful to our Manse working party of Dave, Peter, Adrian and Keith who have been working hard to organise the necessary works to prepare the manse ready for Andrew, Candid and Evelyn to move in early next year. So far a new boiler and radiators have been installed, plastering work done, fascias replaced and of course the garden has been tidied up. There is still a great deal of work to do with painting and decorating, new bathroom installation, kitchen alterations, carpets and floor coverings, further electrical work and a list of other bits and pieces. We had ring fenced the rental income we have had from the manse for this work – the amounts comes to just over £31,000. We just wanted to bring everyone up to date with what is happening but also thank the team.
This week
There will be prayer meetings on Wednesday morning and Saturday morning at 9.30 am. Zoom details for these will be e-mailed early in the week.
With love and blessings.
