Dear All,

Church Membership
We are hoping the next session to Explore Church Membership will be on Saturday 5th July 10 am to 12 noon. If you are interested in exploring church membership, please do speak to David or me so that we can arrange an appropriate date to do the session.

Dates for your diary:
20th July – Church Picnic
We invite everyone to bring a picnic lunch to church so that we can spend time together after the service.
30th July to 4th August – New Wine
We are intending to stream the morning and evening sessions from New Wine (other than the Monday morning when it is holiday club). This is an opportunity to hear some excellent teaching and share in worship – you are welcome to come to all of the sessions or as many as you can manage.
27th September – Church Awayday at Assington Hall
We are planning an awayday for everyone from Church at Assington Hall. This will be a day to gather together to worship, eat, have fun, be quiet, enjoy fellowship together and so much more.
Please do put these dates in your diary. More details on each of these events will be available nearer the time.

Adventure Cruise Holiday Club
We are getting very excited about our holiday club!

  • Booking forms – booking forms are now available. We will be limiting numbers so please do get in quickly. The form can be completed online or by taking one from the foyer and returning it to Jo or me.
  • Cakes –some of the weeks are covered for cakes but we do need cakes for 11th and 18th August. We need two people each week to bake 18 cup cakes – if you can help please contact Rachael.
  • Props – We are looking for various props including old style deck chairs, old style suitcases (the Paddington bear variety), buckets and spades, inflatable fish and seagulls, a fishing net and maybe even a boat! If you can help provide any of these please speak to Rachael or myself.

Annual General Meeting
Our Annual General Meeting will be held this Monday, 23rd June at 7.30pm. Everyone is very welcome to attend – voting will be limited to those who are church members.

Praying for schools
Sam Fowler from CYO writes: “Come join us at St John’s Church on Wednesday 25th June at 7:30 pm for a special event where we will gather to pray for our schools in Colchester. Let’s come together in unity across churches and traditions to lift up our schools, students, teachers, and staff in prayer. Prayer is powerful and we know it will make a positive impact on our schools and all those within them.
However you pray – out loud, in quiet, in another language, through movement or sign language or in other creative ways – you are welcome. For more details and to book in please head to https://PrayForSchoolsColchester.eventbrite.co.uk “

Bible Journaling
The next journaling session will take place on Saturday, 28th June, 10 am-12 noon. Coffee and cake provided, plus friendly relaxed chat, whilst spending time in God’s Word, what could be better?! Do come along even if you’ve never been before, speak to Jo for more details. It has been wonderful to see new faces joining us – please don’t be afraid to come and explore journaling – no experience/skills/equipment required, we’d love to see you!

Men’s Group
The dates for the Men’s group are as follows:
June Monday 30th Chat and Chill
July Monday 14th Homegroup
All meetings are at the church 13.30 – 15.00. Please do speak to Peter for more details.

A Rocha UK events
We have received details from Synod of two events taking place at Foxearth Meadows Nature Reserve, Foxearth, Sudbury.

  • Big Bug Day – June 28th 10:30am to 3pm
  • Dragonfly & Damselfly Identification Walks – July 26th 10.30am – 12.15 pm and 1.15 – 3 pm

Prayer before the morning services
We are aiming to gather together to pray at 9.45 am each Sunday with those who are leading and taking part in the service. Please do feel free to join everyone to pray in the music area.
