Liz’s Letter 16/07/2023
July 15, 2023 by Liz Bird

Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 16:28

Dear All

Youth Drop in
Joe writes “We are aiming to start a ‘drop in’ youth club for the local community. We will be running a small trial of this from September on Mondays, straight after school, initially for a limited number of young people from within the church and the wider community. The idea is that when the trial period is over, we will open it up to more young people in the wider community living locally, as part of our mission as a church.
By showing Jesus’ love, we aim to provide a safe space for young people to build healthy relationships with their peers, and safe adults. We want to see lives transformed, equipping them to make healthy life choices, regardless of background or circumstance.
We would appreciate your prayer support for this for funding, community interest, volunteers, resources, safety and God’s leading.
If you are interested in being involved or supporting the project in any way, there will be a short meeting after church on Sunday 23rd July, straight after the morning service, to find out more.”

New Wine
The schedule for the New Wine streams of the Celebrations on 26-30 July is as follows:
                                                   Morning                                      Evening
Wednesday 26 July                        –                                            7.00pm
Thursday 27 July                    9.00 am                                       7.00pm
Friday 28 July                          9.00 am                                       7.00pm
Saturday 29 July                     9.00 am                                       7.00pm
Sunday 30 July                        9.00 am                                             –
To enable us to share in fellowship after the morning sessions we would like to provide tea and coffee each morning. If you are able to help with this on 27th, 28th or 29th July please let me know.
Please note that our morning service on 30th July will start at 9.00 am so that we can stream the Sunday morning celebration.
On Saturday 29th July we will have a fish and chips lunch together. The options are on the sign-up sheet at church, please sign up with your choices by 23rd July. Money can either be paid on the day using the Sumup contactless machine, placed in an envelope marked “new wine lunch” and put in the offertory box or transferred to the church bank account with the reference “new wine lunch”. We are hoping that some of those from Tiptree URC will join us for New Wine and the fish and chips lunch.

Men’s Chat and Chill
The next men’s char and chill will be on 24th July. Please speak to Peter or Adrian for more details.

Summer Mondays
Bookings are now coming in for these sessions – if you would like your child/children to come please do get your forms in quickly as there are limited spaces. The latest date for returning forms is this Thursday, 20 July.
The sessions are for 5-11 year olds, the toddler group will be running alongside the Summer Monday sessions and there will be Coffee and Cake.
We need people to provide cakes and also help with making and serving the coffee/tea. If you can help please sign up on the noticeboard.
This is such an exciting opportunity to welcome children and their families over the summer. Please do pray for this holiday club.

Church Profile
The church profile has now been submitted to the Moderator and will be presented at the next Moderators’ Meeting. The profile was compiled by a number of people from the fellowship and also took into account the various surveys, prayer events and other feedback we have received over the last 2 years. A copy is available for you to see at church if you would like. Please do not remove this from the church.

Fantasy Football league
Stewart Bird has organized a fantasy football league again – he writes:
“Fantasy Premier League 23/24 went live today, I have renewed the United by Football League so if you fancy your chances then go and start creating your squad. Feel free to share with anyone you know you think would be up for a fun challenge. League Code is owb65o.”

This week
There will be prayer meetings on Wednesday and Saturday mornings at 9.30am. Zoom details for each will be e-mailed early in the week.

With love and blessings.
