Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Dear All,

Thy Kingdom Come
Thy Kingdom Come is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus. We are asked to chose 5 people to pray for them to come to know God. There are various resources available: A Novena book – A novena is a nine-day period of prayer, typically prayed for a specific intention or grace. The practice dates back to the time between Jesus’ Ascension into Heaven and Pentecost, when the Apostles prayed together for nine days (Acts 1:14). There is also a Prayer Journal and a children’s book. The children’s book contains a QR code for parents to watch a video with their children.
These are all available from the porch in church – they are a free resource to us. We have ordered 50 sets of the Novena and prayer journal. If you would prefer to access the resources on your mobile or tablet there are apps to enable you to do so – type in Thy Kingdom Come into your apps search and you will be able to download the app which will give you access to the resources. I will also put out the beads and leather bracelets on Sunday for those who would like to make a bracelet with initials of those you are praying for. The resources all start on 14th May and finish on Pentecost Sunday.

Dates for your diary
We have a few dates to share with you.
17th May – Lindsey Brown, who is the URC Evangelism and Ecumenical Officer, will be sharing with us information about partnerships with the Zimbabwe Presbytery of UPCSA. This is something we would like to begin to explore as church and we hope that Lindsey will be able to share some helpful information with us. Rev Paul Whittle who was previously the Eastern Synod Moderator will be joining her as he has spent a lot of time working with the Zimbabwe Presbytery.
31st May – Daniel Gitau will be with us for our morning service.
14th June – Our next worship evening starting at 6.30 pm.
21st June – Rev Lythan Nevard, the Synod Moderator will be taking our morning service.

Church Camping
Andrea writes: “I’m sure you know we are a family who love camping! Several people have asked me to organise a Church camp, we have done several in the past. My plan is Friday 10th July for those that wish to camp for the night. On Saturday people can come for either a picnic or fish and chip lunch and the afternoon. If you are interested please let me know and I can try and find somewhere suitable hopefully less than an hour’s drive. Thank you” Andrea

New Wine
New Wine takes place from Tuesday 28th July to Sunday 2nd August. We will be streaming the celebration sessions in church in the mornings and evenings. Some suggestions have been made to create a “festival” around New Wine at church so that we can gather socially as well as engaging with the celebrations. If you have any ideas for this please do speak to me so that we can put a team together to carry this forward.

Church Storage sorting
Thank you to everyone who helped with the sorting out last Saturday.

Coffee and Tea
Sadly despite the request for more helpers there will be some Sundays on the next rota when we are unable to serve tea and coffee. If this is something you could help with in the future, please do speak to Jo.

Missing items
There are a number of missing items from church including a cake carrier case, small pudding dishes and cutlery. If you have borrowed any of these items please could you return them. Thank you.

Men’s Group
Dates for Chat & Chill and Homegroup are as follows
Chat & Chill            Homegroup

June 1st & 29th         15th

This week
There will be a prayer meeting on Wednesday morning and on Saturday morning at 9.30 am on Zoom. The bible study homegroup will be meeting on Tuesday evening at 7.30 pm. Zoom details will be e-mailed early in the week.

With love and blessings,
