Letter from the Manse September 2026
Make a choice.
We are thrilled to be back amongst you and walking alongside each other as we seek
to know Christ and make Him known together as a local church. We had a great time
with family and created new memories with each other during the summer holidays.
We live life making choices of how we would like to feel when we wear certain clothes.
We make choices of the texture, colours of clothing depending on the weather,
activities or occasions. We have to make the conscious decision on what we are
wearing daily.
Paul encourages the church at Colossae as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly
loved by God to clothe themselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness
and patience (Colossians 3:12). The chosen people of God as chosen and loved,
were to decide in their hearts and minds to clothe themselves in the robes of
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
These robes help God’s people to reflect the image of the one who had chosen and
loved them; God. We are challenged by this passage to do our best in representing
the one who has chosen and loved us as we interact with people we live with and
interact with daily. The people we interact with should experience the love of God as
they experience compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience through our
words and actions.
The Holy Spirit is available to us 24/7 to help us ooze compassion, kindness,
gentleness and patience in our interactions with people but we have to be willing to
be models where these robes can be put on and be a blessing to the people we
interact with.
We are called as God’s chosen and loved people to show compassion, kindness,
humility, gentleness and patience to one another and all peoples.
The words accredited to St. Francis of Assis (paraphrased) “embody the gospel at all
times through compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience and when
necessary, use words” sum up my letter well.
Blessings from God, the Creator, Redeemer and Comforter
Andrew
