Liz’s Letter 25/02/2024
February 25, 2024 by Liz Bird

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 107:1

Dear All,

I do hope you have had a good week and the children and young people have enjoyed their half term break.

Baptisms
Our service on Easter Sunday morning will include some baptisms. If you are interested in baptism please do come and speak to me.

Maundy Thursday
On the evening of Maundy Thursday (28th March) we will be having a family meal together starting at 6.30 pm. The menu will be the same as last year as this seemed to be very popular: Lasagne, salad and garlic bread followed by dessert. During the meal we will remember the events of the last supper Jesus shared with the disciples and we will share in Communion.
To help with the catering we would be grateful if you would sign up in the foyer. We are asking if people are able to provide a lasagne, either meat or vegetable, which can be heated up on the day. If you can please tick the appropriate box and say how many your lasagne will serve. We will also need folk to help set up and clear away.
The evening is always a very special time to gather together for all ages so we do hope you will be able to join us.

Prayer before our Sunday services
Prior to Covid, we used to gather together for prayer in the front room. We would like to restart this. At the moment there isn’t a room suitable to gather in so we will meet around the alcove music area. If you would like to join the service leader and worship group for prayer at 9.45 am starting next Sunday (3rd March) please do. Everyone is very welcome to join us.

Holiday Club Planning
Rachael writes: “We will be having an initial meeting for those who are interested in being involved in a holiday club this year on Tuesday 12th March at 7.30pm at the church. It would be great to see as many of you there as possible. If you are unable to attend, but would like to be involved, please let me know. Thank you, Rachael Coombes (holidayclub@Plumeavenuechurch.org.uk)”

The Orchard Women’s Conference 2024 — London
A few of us have booked to attend the above on Saturday, 12 Oct 2024 at Saint Paul’s Church, Hammersmith, London. The conference has previously been in Birmingham but they have now added London as a venue for this year. The conference is described as a place “creating space for women to step more fully into all God has made them to be and do”. If you are interested in coming please do speak to Jo Barnard-Edwards or go to: https://theorchardwomen.com/ We hope to be able to arrange a minibus or some form of transport if we can get enough of us together to go.

Satellites
Joe writes: “From 2nd – 7th August, the youth group will be at Satellites in Shepton Mallet. We are currently looking for people with the relevant driving licences, and a DBS, who would be willing to donate their time to drive the minibus there and back on 2nd and 7th. Ideally we need two drivers for each journey. If this is something you might be able to do, please speak to Joe.”

Bible Journaling
There is still space if you would like to join the Bible Journaling workshop next Saturday but you will need to let Jo know if you would like to book by this Sunday (25th Feb). Bible journaling is all about reading and studying the Word, letting it lead you to be creative in the ways you memorize and record Scripture. Jo has asked the tutor if she would be able to come and lead a workshop at Plume Avenue and she has agreed to do so on Saturday 2 March, 10am-12noon. The workshop will cost £10 each and we need a minimum of 5 people. There will be cakes, biscuits and drinks available. Please do speak to Jo if you want to know more about this or to book.

Prophetic words, scripture, pictures and testimonies
It is so exciting when God speaks to us in specific ways through words, scripture and pictures. If during a service you receive something and feel you would like to share it with everyone, please do speak to the person leading the service. Equally, if you receive something during the week or have a testimony you would like to share, please do let me know so that we can include it on a Sunday. It is so encouraging to hear how God is working through people’s lives and sharing these things brings glory to His name so please be encouraged to do so.

Prayer requests
We do have a prayer chain at Plume Avenue who love to pray for others. If you have something you would like the team to pray for confidentially, please e-mail:
circleprayer@plumeavenuechurch.org.uk
These e-mails go to Andrea Anderson, Rosemary Peck and Steve Edwards. Whoever sees the e-mail first sends it round the prayer chain.

This week
This week, there will be prayer meetings on Wednesday and Saturday mornings at 9.30 am. Zoom details will be e-mailed early in the week.

With love and blessings.
