Liz’s Letter 21/09/2025
September 20, 2025 by Liz Bird

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever Psalm 131

Dear All,

Harvest
Our Harvest Thanksgiving service is this Sunday, 21st September.
Harvest lunch: We would like to encourage everyone to bring a picnic lunch for after the service.
Harvest Gifts: Our Harvest Gifts this year will be for Colchester Foodbank. A list of their needs is on the reverse of this letter. If you would prefer to make a financial donation, please place your gift in an envelope marked up as “Harvest Foodbank” in the tithe and offerings box. Alternatively you can make a donation through the church bank account with a reference of “Harvest Foodbank” or using the SumUp machine which David will have.

27th September – Church Awayday – Venue change
As a result of various logistical issues, the leadership team have taken the decision to relocate the awayday to Church. The content and purpose of the day remains unchanged and we will look to run the same activities and sessions where we can. The barbecue is booked and paid for and will go ahead as before. The start and finish times remain the same. Everyone who is booked on the day should have received an e-mail with all the details of the day, if you didn’t get a copy but are booked to come please do let me know. With regard to the cost of the day – the £10 per person which has been requested part covers the food which has been ordered. The church has subsidized the remainder of the costs.
If you are still to pay for the day, a reminder that the cost of the day is £10 per person, please do this as soon as possible. This can be paid into the church bank account with a reference of “Assington”, using the SumUp machine which David has or putting cash in an envelope in the tithes and offertory box, marked “Assington”.

Advent textile workshop retreat day – Pleshey House

Led by Sharon Blackman. Celebrate the Advent anticipation of the peace and joy of Christmas by making a special, festive folk-art picture. Sharon will take you step by step through the process of making a picture as well as providing ideas sheets to inspire and encourage you. Making textile pictures is always a delight but Advent and Christmas are extra special times. Immerse yourself in thoughts of sparkling snow, warm, glowing candles, lights in the darkness and the rich colours of creation in winter – and let your imagination and creativity flow! No previous experience is necessary other than maybe the most basic sewing skills.
