Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 107:1

Dear All

Holiday Club Planning
We met together on Tuesday to discuss the potential for a Summer Holiday club here at church. We have agreed to run a holiday club on Mondays 29th July, 5th, 12th and 19th August from 9.45am to 12noon. The holiday club will be open to all children who have attended school in the 2023/24 school year from reception to year 5. We especially need people to help with the children’s groups, run the sound desk, lead games, provide refreshments, make cakes and help in the café area. If you are able to help with this please do speak to Rachael. You don’t need to be available for all four dates. If you are volunteering to help with the children you will need a DBS check which we can arrange if you don’t currently hold one. This is an exciting opportunity to share the good news about the Christian faith with these children so do give it prayerful consideration.

Baptisms
Our service on Easter Sunday morning will include some baptisms. If you are interested in baptism please do come and speak to me by next Sunday, 24th March.
Pat Dewsbury
We continue to remember Pat’s family in our prayers. There will be a service of thanksgiving for Pat’s life in St James Church, Nayland on 22nd March 2024 at 11am. Angela, Deborah and JD would be so pleased to see as many as can make it to the service. The service will be followed by a private family burial. If you would like more details or to share cars please speak to Andrea or me. It would be helpful for the family to know how many may be attending.

Maundy Thursday
This is a reminder to ensure you are signed up for the meal by next Sunday, 24th March.
If you have offered to help set up we will be in touch about the arrangements.
The evening is always a very special time to gather together for all ages so we do hope you will be able to join us.

Easter Egg Hunt
We will be joining with Prettygate Baptist church again to hold an Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday afternoon. The hunt starts here at Plume Avenue Church at 2.30pm and finishes at the Baptist church with refreshments and crafts. It is open to all ages, especially families.

Easter Gardens
A few years ago we encouraged folk to make a display in their front garden or in the front window depicting something of the real meaning of Easter. We would like to encourage folk to do this again and send pictures to the admin e-mail address (see above0) by Friday 29th March that we can show them on Easter Sunday. There may even be a prize or two!

Eco Church
Last Saturday, the Synod meeting focused on our need to care for God’s earth. Many churches have already registered with Eco Church. Eco Church is described as:
“Eco Church is a learning community of churches of all shapes and sizes open to all denominations. It provides a framework to support your church and its leadership to take practical action on caring for God’s earth. It includes a toolkit of resources, an online award survey, quarterly email update, online events, and conferences. The Eco Church survey will help you ‘go green’ in all areas of your church life. The work you do will all count towards a Bronze, Silver or Gold Eco Church award hopefully, all three”.
We would like to register as a church and start work on the Bronze award. We need a group of people who will work together to do this for you. If you have a passion for how we need to protect and look after God’s earth, this will no doubt be something you would bring a lot to. Please do speak to Dave, Marie or myself so that we can put everyone in touch with each other to begin this piece of work.

Drop-in update
Over the coming weeks, the young people are making Easter hampers – one for themselves, and another for someone they know. We have seen new young people arrive over the last few weeks. One of the parents has said that the drop-in is a ‘lifeline’ for young people. Joe

This week
This week, there will be prayer meetings on Wednesday and Saturday mornings at 9.30 am and the Tuesday evening homegroup at 7.30 pm. Zoom details will be e-mailed early in the week.

With love and blessings.
